The government has turned down the marina plan

Plans to build a £60m marina in Bridlington have been turned down by the government.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council had planned to build a 500-berth marina and reclaim a 15-hectare area of the beach to provide land for housing and leisure developments.
The council said the scheme would have generated 650 jobs in the town and would have attracted an extra 118,000 visitors.
But opponents of the plan had said it would damage the environment.
David Jamieson, Shipping Minister, explained why the proposals were being turned down.
He said: "We have concluded that, overall, the case for this scheme is outweighed by the arguments against it.
"While we recognise that the scheme is capable of bringing economic benefits, we have concluded that its adverse impacts on both the natural and man-made heritage of Bridlington present a compelling case against allowing it to go ahead."
