Fatal fire was 'not arson'
Police investigating the death of a man in a house fire on Monday morning have ruled out arson as a cause of the blaze.

Derbyshire Police have identified the victim as Gerald McShera, 41, of Vale Drive in Shirebrook.

He died after fire swept through a row of terraced houses in the village.

More than 20 firefighters responded to the emergency call along with ambulance crews.

The fire took hold in the roof space in three of the houses, causing parts of the buildings to collapse.

A report is being prepared for the coroner into the man's death.
