Police have established that a man found with serious head injuries at the weekend had been attacked.
Marc Connor, 28, from Queensway House in Hatfield was taken to the QE2 Hospital in Welwyn Garden City on Saturday.
Officers have been able to pinpoint the location and approximate time of the attack on Mr Connor thanks to the public's response to the information appeal issued earlier this week.
Marc, who is known as Kos, was attacked in the car park of the town's Queensway Health Centre1900 BSTand 1930 BST on Thursday 31 July.
Witness appeal
Detectives have been able to trace some witnesses to the incident, but are still keen to speak to anyone else who has information regarding the attack.
Detective Chief Inspector Adrian Tapp, of Hertfordshire Police, said; "We are particularly anxious to speak to a lady who witnessed the incident, but who has not yet come forward.
"She is described as wearing a dark green uniform, possibly a nurse's.
" We would very much like to speak to her and anyone else who either witnessed or has knowledge of the incident, as they may have information vital to the investigation."
Mr Connor remains at the Royal Free Hospital in London, where transferred for treatment for serious head injuries.
His condition is described as serious but improving slightly.
