Children get hospital waiting room
Jersey's General Hospital
Children had to wait next to adults before the new waiting room
Children will no longer have to wait with adults in the Accident and Emergency department at Jersey's General Hospital.

They are to have a separate waiting room, which the authorities hope will make their visits less distressing.

The local banking community, the Jersey Bankers' Association, has donated more than £3,000 to fill it with toys and equipment for children.

Hospital authorities said they are delighted children will have somewhere more welcoming to wait in future.

The plan came about after staff raised concerns that visits to the accident and emergency department were distressing for children.

They had to wait next to adults, some of whom could have been waiting for treatment for disturbing or sensitive injuries.
