Crash probe calls for changes
Helicopter
The helicopter came down off the island
An official report into a helicopter crash in Orkney has called for a change in the procedure for dealing with loads carried beneath the aircraft.

Anthony Taylor, 53, died when his aircraft came down in the sea about 200 yards from the Brough of Birsay.

An investigation into the cause of the accident discovered the load he was carrying struck the tail rotor blades in high winds.

The helicopter had been chartered to carry building material from a lighthouse at the Brough of Birsay.

A report, published by air accident investigators, concludes the load had been assembled by untrained building contractor's staff.

They are now calling for a greater level of supervision and guidance.
