A number of trees were blown across roads
Torrential showers and gale force winds have caused chaos across Oxfordshire.

Fallen trees, flash floods and road accidents led to severe delays for drivers and left homes without power for several hours on Monday evening.

Two people had to be cut free from a vehicle that overturned on the eastbound lane of the A40 at the Headington Road roundabout, Oxford, during rush-hour.

The crash caused major delays. A number of other roads became blocked by trees which had been blown down.

About 2,500 lost power during storms in Bicester, but were re-connected by about 1900 BST.

Flash floods also closed the A4095 between Witney and Faringdon.

A severe weather warning for the county was issued by the Met Office for Monday evening but was stood down at 2000 BST.
