Hutton Inquiry

The Defence Secretary, Geoff Hoon, and the Downing Street Director of Communications, Alastair Campbell, were cross-examined at the Hutton Inquiry into the death of the Government scientist, Dr David Kelly.

Mr Hoon was questioned about his involvement in the naming of Dr Kelly, while Mr Campbell's evidence was mainly concerned with whether he influenced the contents of the Iraq weapons dossier.

We had a full report on the day's events.

New Secretary-General

Nato has a new Secretary-General. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, who's currently Dutch Foreign Minister, will face a variety of problems, from how to make the Nato led force in Afghanistan more effective, to what role any future European Defence Force should play. We talked to him.

Common Agricultural Policy

And Labour MP Michael Wills gave us a personal view of what he sees as the iniquities of Europe's Common Agricultural Policy. But are the subsidies paid to Europe's farmers really an unfair exploitation of developing countries? Or are they essential rules to protect our food supplies whose abolition would not assist developing countries anyway?
