Teenager death investigated
Police
Police described the death as a "complete mystery"
An inquest into the death of a teenager found hanged just days before his 18th birthday has been opened and adjourned.

Police have described the death of Jamie Sell, 17, as a "complete mystery".

Jamie was found hanged at his home in Llandaff, Cardiff, last week.

His schoolfriends are being interviewed, but a family friend said it was not known what had caused the death.

"If he had said something we would have known why," said the friend.

We just don't know what was on his mind
South Wales Police

"Jamie would have been 18 a few days later - we should have been celebrating his birthday but now we are planning his funeral."

A South Wales Police spokesman said he was a "bright lad with everything to live for".

"No one can understand it," he said.

"He had done well in his GCSEs and was a promising athlete with lots of friends.

"There was no apparent girlfriend trouble - we just don't know what was on his mind."

His funeral is due to take place on Wednesday in Ely, Cardiff.
