Dog attacks grazing sheep
Sheep
Three sheep were attacked
Dog owners have been urged to take more care near grazing livestock after an attack on three sheep in a Lincolnshire nature reserve.

One sheep was killed and two others badly hurt by a dog which was let off its lead at Ancaster Valley reserve, run by the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust.

The trust's South Lincolnshire Warden, Sarah Evans, said dog owners should take extra care near sheep.

She said the trust did not want to ban dogs from the reserves but may have to if animal safety is threatened.

"A lot of people are very keen on their dog walking and I think it would make us quite a few enemies.

"But obviously if incidents like this do keep happening, we will have to consider the welfare of our livestock. We can't put them in jeopardy."
