Thousands of lawyers who support the opposition in Bangladesh have staged a one-day strike, bringing the legal system to a halt.
The lawyers are unhappy about a decision by the government to bring people earning the equivalent of $1,500 a year into the income tax net - a move that will affect many lawyers.
They say they are also disappointed that the government has taken so long to separate the judiciary from the executive arm of government.
There were some scuffles between lawyers who supported the strike and others sympathetic to the governing party.
