A 68-year-old man who downloaded more than 36,000 child porn images onto his computer has been jailed for 15 months.
Ronald Beaumont, of Baynards Close, Truro, admitted 16 charges of making indecent photographs of children.
He was arrested after his details were discovered on a United States child
abuse website.
More than 36,000 images were found by police on two computers, and compact and floppy disks.
Some of the images were of sex involving adults and animals.
Peter Ashman, prosecuting, told the court that Beaumont when interviewed by police said he accessed the website out of "stupid curiosity," and added: "It does nothing for me emotionally at all."
Mr Ashman said 22 movies involving child abuse were also found.
Adam Vaitalingham, defending, said Beaumont, who was a diabetic in poor health, had been "addicted" to the images.
