Boundary plans prompt survey
Bury town hall
Bury Council would take over Rossendale under the proposals
Residents in a Lancashire borough are being asked whether they want to join Greater Manchester.

A survey is being carried out among residents in Rossendale, over proposed boundary changes.

They would mean that the borough would become incorporated into Bury.

The week-long phone survey will gauge the views of 800 people.

The Boundary Commission has asked local authorities to express their views on changes to administrative and geographical boundaries if a North West Regional Assembly comes into being.

If it did, some tiers of local government would no longer be needed, including Rossendale Borough Council.

The deputy leader of Bury Council, Wayne Campbell, says the council wants to be able to show the Boundary Commission that it has spoken to people in an objective way.
