Anti-nuclear pair held
Devonport
Devonport has stepped up security following a previous demonstration
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of causing criminal damage at Devonport Dockyard, in Plymouth.

It followed an incident at around midnight when a couple were seen close to the dockyard wall with a ladder.

Sue Brackenbury, 27, from Ayrshire and Matt Bury, 48, from Taunton, are being questioned at Charles Cross police station.

Devonport is home to seven Trafalgar class nuclear-powered submarines and is to refit the navy's Trident nuclear submarines.

The pair are members of anti-nuclear group Trident Ploughshares which staged a demonstration last year against the refitting of Trident submarine HMS Vanguard at Devonport.

Two members of the group gained access to HMS Vanguard and rang its alarm.

The MoD reviewed security at the dockyard after the incident.

HMS Vanguard arrived at Devonport in February last year for a two-year refit and refuelling.
