Dental records are being checked in an effort to confirm the identity of a man who died when his car caught fire in an accident near Shrewsbury.
The victim, who is thought to be from Market Drayton, was involved in a crash on the outskirts of Shawbury on Tuesday afternoon.
He was trapped in his burning Peugeot 105 after it was in collision with another car and a lorry on the A53, near the Rapra plastics technology centre at Shawbury.
By the time fire and ambulance crews reached the scene it was too late to save the man.
The road was closed for more than six hours while investigators tried to establish what happened.
The fire was so intense that the road surface was damaged by its heat.
Temporary traffic lights have been set up until repairs have been carried out.
Police are appealing for witnesses.
