Burglary suspects in stand-off

A man and a youth have been arrested after being spotted on the roof of a burgled clothes shop in Liverpool.

Police were called to Allerton Road just after 0030 BST on Wednesday after neighbours reported the burglary.

Officers arrived at the scene and saw the man and teenage boy trying to escape over the roof.

Part of the road was closed and the fire service were called in as a precaution.

Police negotiators were also called and, after a four-hour stand-off, the pair were persuaded to come down.

The 43-year-old man and 15-year-old boy were due to be questioned later on Wednesday.
