A woman has been rescued from a burning flat in east Belfast.
The fire was discovered in the flat in the Mount area shortly before 0700 BST on Wednesday.
Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus carried the woman to safety.
Assistant Divisional Officer John Denver said a tragedy was narrowly avoided.
"They located a casualty behind the front door and brought her down where she was treated by fire brigade personnel until the ambulance crews arrived," he said.
"She was suffering from smoke inhalation and burns to the body.
"I would say, in another minute, we could well have been looking at a fatality, rather than just injuries."
