Inquiry into train collision
An investigation has been launched into a collision between a car and a passenger train which left a motorist injured.

The accident happened at an unmanned level crossing at the Battersby junction in Great Ayton, North Yorkshire, on Sunday.

Police say the train was travelling at low speed on a little-used scenic route between Middlesbrough and Whitby when it struck the rear of the vehicle.

A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the driver of the car suffered minor injuries in the collision.

Nobody on board the train was injured.
