Man dies in house fire

One man has died in a fire in a row of 12 terraced homes in Derbyshire.

The fire broke out on Vale Drive in Shirebrook near the border with Nottinghamshire early on Monday morning.

More than 20 firefighters responded to the emergency call along with ambulance crews.

The fire took hold in the roof space in three of the houses, causing parts of the buildings to collapse.

A man's body was discovered by firefighters as they searched inside the properties.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
