Airfield home plans go on show
Site at Filton, Bristol, which could be used for 2,200 homes
The site is part of Filton Airfield
Plans to build more than 2,000 homes on a disused section of Filton Airfield are to go on show at a public exhibition.

Developer Bovis Homes bought the 150-acre site from landowner BAe Systems a year ago for almost £100m.

It wants to build 2,200 new homes, shops and an area for new businesses next to the Mall shopping centre at Cribbs Causeway.

The proposals are being put on display at Patchway Town Council, but some local residents say the area is too crowded already.

Bovis Homes' proposals include a new dual carriageway link road to ease traffic congestion in the Highwood Road area.

A new community building is planned, and current sports and recreational facilities based at Patchway Community School would be improved.

The company is due to apply for outline planning permission for the scheme soon and, if approved, building work could begin within two years.
