City man to invest in birthplace
A businessman plans to invest £250m to redevelop the Coventry suburb where he grew up.

John Miller, who was born and bred in the Foleshill area of the city, will return to Coventry on Wednesday to reveal more about his plans for the area.

The proposals concern the redevelopment of a 50 acre site at Paragon Park.

The former brickworks site could be transformed into a luxury development of 1,200 flats and houses and one-and-a-half acres of parkland.

Tree-lined roads

The site would extend to the nearby canal where it would feature new shops, bridges and walkways.

It is estimated the development could create 2,000 jobs.

Tree-lined roads would link Stoney Stanton Road and the Foleshill Road.

Mr Miller, who works in the development industry and is now based in Jersey, will hand over the outline planning application for the site to Coventry City Council on Wednesday.

He hopes that, once the plans are approved, work could start on the site early in 2004 and be completed by 2009.
