Detectives return to stabbing scene
Joseph Cohen
Joseph Cohen lived alone
Detectives are returning to a street in north London where an 88-year-old man was stabbed to death in his own flat nearly two months ago.

Leaflets will be handed out by detectives in Rosedale House, a block of flats on Manor Road, Stoke Newington, to try to jog witnesses' memories.

On 20 June police broke into the flat where 88-year-old Joseph Cohen had lived for 40 years and found his dead body.

He had been stabbed more than 20 times, possibly a few days before he was eventually discovered.

There was no sign of a break-in and Mr Cohen's family say he would not have opened the door to a stranger.

He was last seen on 12 June, paying a bill at a post office in Stoke Newington High Street, which was captured on CCTV.

Police have been building up a picture of Mr Cohen's life and are looking for anyone who might be able to shed more light on his life.

Police search for three people

They found he often went into central London to visit cafes around Blenheim Street as well as department stores in the West End.

He liked meeting people but would occasionally use the names Tony, Martin or Jack Conway and play down his age until he knew them better.

A woman may have been staying at his flat and police are keen to talk to her and anyone else who knew Mr Cohen.

Police are also trying to trace two people who were seen near Mr Cohen's front door days before he was found.
