Group plans dockyard blockade
Devonport
Four submarines will be refitted in Plymouth
Anti-nuclear campaigners are planning to blockade a Devon dockyard.

The protest is over the refitting of nuclear submarines such as HMS Vanguard at Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth.

A similar camp last year led to a major security incident at the base.

The campaign group Trident Ploughshares will be staging the five-day camp at the beginning of October.

HMS Vanguard is the first of four submarines to be refitted at the docks.

Work on the remaining three is expected to continue for at least the next eight years.

Last year, during a similar camp, two people from the group managed to break into the dockyard and climbed on board HMS Vanguard, sparking a major security incident.
