Two injured in aircraft crash
The plane
Two people have escaped with minor injuries when a light aircraft crashed in north Lincolnshire.

The plane came down between Sandtoft airfield and the M180, near Scunthorpe, on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency services said it crashed in a field, a couple of hundred yards from the motorway.

The fuselage of the twin-seater single engine aircraft was badly damaged but the cockpit remained largely in tact.

Both the man and woman in the plane were taken to hospital suffering from shock.

Firefighters have been at the scene to prevent any aviation fuel catching alight.

An inquiry has begun by the Air Accident Investigation branch.

In April, a 62-year-old man was killed after his Cessna crashed near Sandtoft Airfield.
