Cannabis remains illegal
A South African man has been charged with importing drugs into Northern Ireland after cannabis was seized by customs officers.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of £300,000, were recovered by officers during an operation in Belfast on Saturday.

The 42-year-old man is due to appear before magistrates in the city on Monday.

In a separate operation, police arrested a 31-year-old County Antrim woman after a batch of suspected cocaine was intercepted in the post from Britain.

The drugs, worth about £75,000, were discovered in a suspicious package addressed to a house in Lisburn.

Meanwhile, police in Londonderry have recovered drugs valued at £75,000.

The cannabis resin was seized during a planned search of a house at Virginia Court in the city on Saturday afternoon.
