Police appeal after street brawl death
Police are appealing to the Iraqi community in Coventry to help with the investigation into the death of an asylum seeker in Nottingham.

Amir Abdula Bakir, a Kurdish Iraqi, was stabbed to death on 8 September during a mass brawl in the St Ann's area of Nottingham.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that Mr Bakir, 27, died of stab wounds.

Police believe there were many people involved, including Iraqi Kurds who had travelled from Coventry, Derby, Birmingham and cities in the north for the fight.

The incident involved a gang of men fighting with iron bars, cricket bats and bricks in a large-scale disturbance in the early hours of the morning.

Seven men have been charged with violent disorder and have been remanded in custody to Nottingham Crown Court on 23 October.
