Gang launches 'motiveless attacks'
Police tape
Police are hunting the gang after two attacks.
Police are hunting a gang of youths after two attacks in Goole in East Yorkshire.

In both cases the victims were approached from behind by the youths and then beaten up.

The two apparently motiveless assaults took place just streets apart and within an hour of each other.

The first victim, a 19-year-old man, was targeted on Friday around 2315 BST on Westfield Avenue when four men knocked him to the ground.

He managed to get to his feet, but was knocked down a second time before running off.

Just after midnight a 35-year-old man from the Merseyside area was walking along Pasture Road eating a pizza when he was attacked by five men.

The victim was taken to Goole Hospital with severe bruising and cuts to his left eye.

Humberside Police say that nothing was taken in either attack and there appeared to be no motive.

The attackers are described as white, in their teens or early 20s.
