A 36-year-old woman has been indecently assaulted by a man in her home after being followed on her return from a night out.
Police said the woman suffered a serious sexual assault at her home in Calderwood, East Kilbride.
The attack happened between 2330 BST and midnight on Friday after the woman arrived home from Glasgow in a taxi.
Detectives said they believe her attacker followed her as she walked from the taxi to her house and he got into her home after she failed to lock the door.
The woman, who was alone in the house, was confronted by the attacker, who indecently assaulted her.
Police have appealed for witnesses and are particularly keen to speak to the taxi driver.
Detective Constable Alan Sommerville said: "I would appeal to anyone who may have been in the Calderwood area of East Kilbride, perhaps returning home from a night out and who may have witnessed anything suspicious to get in touch.
"I would also ask the driver of the hackney cab who picked the woman up around 11pm in Byres Road in Glasgow to come forward as he may be a potential witness.
"Local residents should also be extra vigilant until this man is caught."
The man was described as white, of thin build, with a very pale complexion.
He had dark hair, dark eyes, was clean shaven and was wearing a dark charcoal grey v-neck jumper and dark coloured trousers.
