Caravan plan could mean jobs boost
Plans have been unveiled for a new £15m holiday village on the Northumberland coastline, which could create up to 120 jobs.

Holiday firm Northumbrian Leisure wants to expand its 250-caravan Golden Sands park in the tiny village of Cresswell near Druridge Bay.

The proposed first phase would involve new shops, a swimming pool and an additional 300 static caravans.

Northumbrian Leisure, which took over the Golden Sands park in 1991, said the development would provide a boost for the local economy and tourism.

The company says the holiday village will create up to 120 jobs for catering, maintenance and reception staff, pool attendants, cleaners and gardeners.

Plans are going to Castle Morpeth council for the development in phases at the 570-acre Cresswell Hall Estate.

A Northumbrian Leisure spokesman said the new swimming pool and sports pitches would be open to local people.
