Boy attacked in cemetery

An 11-year-old boy has been subjected to a serious sexual assault in a Derby graveyard in broad daylight.

Police said the youngster was in Nottingham Road Cemetery, Chaddesden, at around 1800 BST on Monday evening when the incident occurred.

An 18-year-old Derby man has been arrested and was being questioned by police.

An area of the cemetery remained cordoned off while forensic experts examined the scene on Tuesday morning.

The teenager was arrested on Monday in connection with the offence and was being held at St Mary's Wharf police station for questioning, a Derbyshire police spokeswoman said.
