The head of the Board of Administration says States members will be putting off the inevitable if they agree to delay building a waste incinerator in Guernsey.
The proposals from the board are to be debated later this week.
But they face a delaying motion aimed at allowing more time for a waste strategy to be prepared.
Board President, Deputy Roger Berry, says if the proposals are not passed it may result in the States having to spend more money in the future.
