Parent support group plans expansion

The charity wants to help families to have independent lives
A Guernsey charity is expanding to give more support to single parents.

Maison St Pierre is looking for new staff to help meet the increasing needs of local young women.

The charity wants to appoint a childcare project worker and residential support workers to help out at the home on a day-to-day basis.

The helpers will assist people with parenting issues, life skills and representing them in their dealings with other agencies.

One of the main reasons for the move is to help young women and their children move towards more independent living.

One strategy being worked on is to give local single mothers more time to attend part-time courses at college.
