A distraught mother has pleaded for the safe return of her two-year-old daughter, who was taken by her father.

Little Alisha Houghton disappeared from her home in Warmley, Bristol, during the evening of Tuesday 29 July.

The toddler was taken without permission by her father, 32-year-old Jason Smart, from Kingswood in Bristol, who is estranged from Alisha's mother.

On Monday, Ms Houghton, who has custody of Alisha, begged for her daughter to be brought back.

It is not thought the young girl is in any danger.

Mr Smart is described as white, about 5 ft 11 in tall, of medium build, with blue eyes and a shaven head.

Police believe he may still be in the south Gloucestershire area, where he has family and friends.

And they have appealed for him - or anyone who knows where he and his daughter are - to contact them.
