Tight security for society wedding
The Angel, Bury St Edmunds
The Angel is among the hotels where every room is taken
The union of two families from the country's super-rich list takes place in Suffolk on Saturday.

In what is being heralded as the society wedding of the year if not the decade, Kate Rothschild and Ben Goldsmith are getting married at St Mary's Church on Saturday.

Security is tight with extra police hired for the service and secrecy even surrounds the timing of the ceremony.

The 600-strong guest list too is a closely-guarded secret but it is expected to include 23-year-old Ben's sister Jemima and her husband Imran Khan and possibly even a royal.

Two financial dynasties

Suffolk has been chosen for the wedding because the bride has long-standing local connections.

The Rothschild family farms the nearby Rushbrooke Estate where 21-year-old Kate grew up.

The wedding reception is to be held at her mother's home Rushbrooke Hall.

The union will tie two financial dynasties and make the young couple among the richest in the country.

The Rothschild and Goldsmith families are estimated to have a combined fortune of £1.5bn.

The wedding at the 15th Century church, where Henry VIII's sister Mary Tudor is buried, is bringing Bury St Edmunds its own mini-boom.

Hotel rooms in the town centre are all booked for the weekend with many sold out months ago.
