Bedfordshire police headquarters
Police said the shooting incident happened on Sunday night
Police have appealed for information after a young man was shot during a clash between two groups of men.

Bedfordshire Police said the incident happened in Studley Road, Luton, Bedfordshire, on Sunday evening.

On Monday a police spokesman said the 19-year-old Asian man was with a group of friends when a row broke out between them and a group of young black men, near the town's fire station.

It was as the Asian group ran away that a shot rang out and the victim was hit in the lower back.

Stable condition

Witnesses have described the gunman as a young black man who made off from the scene with his friends in a car.

The injured man was rushed to the Luton and Dunstable Hospital where he underwent surgery.

He remains in a stable condition.

Police want to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting which was between 1820 BST and 1830 BST.
