War pensions: Have your say
Current
Widows of soldiers who fought in the current conflict will not benefit

As 1000 more British troops head to Iraq to join the 9500 already in the Gulf, major changes have been announced to the pensions they or their families can expect if they are injured or killed.

The MoD announced a raft of changes including extending benefits to unmarried partners and widening cover to all deaths in service, not just those in conflict.

And the basic widow's pension will increase by a quarter.

But the new scheme will scrap the present system of war disablement pensions and make it harder for people to claim for injuries that happen after April 2005.

What do you think about the MoD's new scheme?

Should it be doing more to compensate injured serviceman and their families?

This is your chance to have your say.
