Denise Van Outen's one-woman musical has been extended for five months to meet demand.

Tell Me on a Sunday opened in April at the Gielgud Theatre in London's West End, to mixed reviews.

But the theatre-going public has taken to the show about an English woman who travels to New York in search of love, and it will now run until January 2004.

The music was written by Andrew Lloyd Webber for an album and television special for Marti Webb in 1979, before being incorporated into the musical Song and Dance.

The theatre impresario decided to update the music and turn it into a stage show especially for Van Outen.

Van Outen, 29, had previously won rave reviews for her performance as Roxie Hart in Chicago.

She first played the role in the West End before transferring to the Broadway production.

Van Outen rose to fame on Channel 4's Big Breakfast where her saucy nature won her plenty of attention.
