A university lecturer has been jailed for life after raping two women, one of whom had been a student at the college where he formerly taught.

Shaun Farrell, 39, admitted three counts of raping a former student of Christ Church College in Canterbury, Kent, in November last year.

He also admitted raping a holidaymaker in Taunton while on bail.

Farrell, of Watchet in Somerset, was sentenced by a judge at Reading Crown Court on Friday.

He left the Kent university, where he was a lecturer and senior tutor in psychology, in November 2001.
