Rapist lecturer jailed for life

A former psychology lecturer has been jailed for life after he admitted raping two women.

Shaun Farrell, 39, of Watersmeet, Abbey Road, Watchet, Somerset, raped one of his former students three times at her home in Reading, Berkshire, last November.

And in June this year - on the day he should have been in court to face those charges - he raped a teenaged holidaymaker on the beach at Blue Anchor, Somerset.

The judge at Reading Crown Court recommended Farrell serve at least 18 years of the sentence.

Farrell, who lectured at Christ Church College in Canterbury until November 2001, admitted all four charges at two previous court appearances in Taunton and Reading.
