Victim 'argued with car occupants'
Andrew Hickox
Andrew Hickox died in hospital
A man who died after being struck in a hit-and-run incident in York may have had an argument with the car's occupants, police say.

Andrew Hickox, from Elland near Halifax, was found injured on Friargate in the city at about 0115 BST on Sunday 20 July.

The 42-year-old builder died later in hospital from a fractured skull.

Now police want to trace the occupants of a maroon Ford Fiesta which was seen in the area at the time.

CCTV footage

Detective Sergeant John Roberts said that a pedestrian was seen speaking to the occupants of the car in Stockton Street and there may have been some sort of argument.

"That pedestrian may have been Andrew Hickox," said Mr Roberts.

Detectives are also studying CCTV footage from Ousegate which may show the car concerned.

They also want to hear from taxi drivers who were in the area at the time of the incident.
