Mother arrested after boy found alone

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of child neglect after a 18-month-old boy was found walking alone and without shoes in Telford.

The woman, in her early 20s, was arrested in Dawley Bank at 1745 BST on Thursday.

She has since been bailed to return to Malinsgate police station on 5 October.

The police say they are still investigating how the child came to be walking barefoot around the area.

A nearby resident spotted the child walking down Milners Lane and called the police.

Police traced the mother at about 1730 BST.
