Two in court over fatal fire
Scene of a fire in Grosvenor Place, Margate
A post mortem showed both men died from smoke inhalation

Two people accused of murdering two teenagers who died in a house fire in Kent have appeared in court.

Daniel Parry, 20, of Approach Road, Margate, and a 17-year-old boy from the town, who cannot be named for legal reasons, spoke only to confirm their names.

Lawyers representing the pair at Maidstone Crown Court indicated they would be pleading not guilty to the charges.

Mr Parry and the teenager were remanded in custody until 6 October when pleas will be formally entered.

The bodies of David Slater and James Mullins, both 18, were found in a third floor flat in Grosvenor Place in Margate in the early hours of 26 July.

Mr Mullins' twin brother Michael is being treated for serious burns at a hospital in East Grinstead, West Sussex.

A post mortem examination showed both victims died from smoke inhalation.
