Sewerage work to improve river
Residents in parts of Stoke-on-Trent are being warned of traffic disruption caused by work on the sewerage system.

Severn Trent Water said the £1.2m scheme would help make the River Trent a better place for wildlife.

The company is spending £16m on work to improve sewers in the city and Newcastle-under-Lyme.

It will mean less waste being discharged into the River Trent.

The latest phase of the scheme will improve the way sewer overflows work in Longton, Fegg Hayes, Abbey Hulton, Tubnstall, Blurton, Bucknall, Handford and Townsend areas of Stoke-on-Trent.

The water company said it would keep traffic disruption to a minimum.

The scheme is due to be finished by March next year.
