Body found outside flats

The body of a young man has been found outside a block of flats in Newport.

Gwent Police were called to St Cecilia's Court, Goldtops, in the city at about 0725 BST on Monday.

The area was sealed off while scenes of crimes and forensic officers carried out an examination of the site.

A police spokeswoman said detectives had gained entry to the premises and were in the process of trying to identify the man.

"Police are treating the incident as a sudden death," she said.

"At this time, it is not considered suspicious but police are waiting for the results of a post mortem."
