A man has been arrested in Belgium in connection with the murders of a family of five from west London.

Scotland Yard said Kenneth Regan, 54, from Salisbury, Wiltshire, who is also known as Avery, has been detained to await extradition proceedings.

The body of Amarjit Chohan, 46, was discovered washed up near Bournemouth pier in Dorset by a canoeist on 22 April.

The body of his wife Nancy, 25, was also found in the sea off Dorset.

Their two young sons and Mrs Chohan's mother, all from Hounslow, west London, are still missing.

Last week Peter Rees, 38, of King's Close, Rowlands Castle, Hampshire, was charged with the murders of Mr and Mrs Chohan.

He is also charged with murdering the couple's sons Ravinder, aged 19 months, four-month-old Devinder, and Mrs Chohan's mother Charanjit Kaur, 51.

Mr Rees has also been charged with preventing Mr Chohan's burial.

Mr Chohan, 46, a haulage boss, and his family vanished from their home in Heston, west London, around 16 February and a police investigation was launched after the alarm was raised by relatives.

The body of Mrs Chohan was found last month, three months after that of her husband.

Detectives gave no details of the circumstances of the arrest in Belgium.
