Man charged over club murder

Richard Barker was shot at the Oldham West Indian Association club
A man has been charged with murder after a fatal shooting at an Oldham social club.

Richard Barker, 28, was shot at the Oldham West Indian Association - known locally as the Caribbean Club - in Horsedge Street, at about 0245 BST on 22 August.

He was taken to the Royal Oldham Hospital, but later died from his injuries.

Police charged Tony Piggot, 19, of Stretford, Greater Manchester, with his murder on Thursday.

He will appear before Oldham magistrates on Friday.
