Teenager critical after car fall
A teenager is critically ill in hospital after falling from his brother's car as it was driven away.

The 16-year-old youth was thrown from the boot of the car in the accident in Halesowen.

Police said the driver was unaware that his brother was sitting on the boot in the incident in Frankley Avenue near its junction with Bourne Avenue at around 0100 BST Thursday.

The youngster suffered serious head injuries as he fell to the ground.

A police spokesman said it appeared a black Mercedes had been stationary at the side of the road with the teenager, from Smethwick, sitting on the boot.

The driver, the victim's 21-year-old brother, pulled away from the kerb and the youth fell from the car, hitting his head on the ground.

He was taken to City Hospital in Birmingham where his condition is described as critical.
