Plea to help street children
Street kids in India
ActionAid has already raised £13,500 for the street children
Guernsey people are being encouraged to give generously to help street children in India.

The appeal is part of Guernsey Action Aid's August event aimed at rescuing and rehabilitating homeless children in the sub-continent.

So far this year, Action Aid has raised £4,500 for Famine Relief in Africa and £13,500 for the Indian street children.

The latter figure should be more than enough to cover the annual running costs of three hostels where youngsters can be sheltered and supported.

It will also be enough for the annual salaries of three special social workers who go out onto the streets to make contact with the children.

To boost the funding effort, Guernsey Action Aid is holding a car boot sale on 9 August at the Vale Douzaine Room.
