Shooting man jailed for 15 years
A man has been jailed for 15 years after shooting a man in the back, paralysing him from the waist down.

Birmingham Crown Court heard that 23-year-old Sean McDonal, a Jamaican national, was convicted for wounding with intent to cause grievious bodily harm.

The shooting happened on John Street in the Lozells area of Birmingham in December last year.

The victim, a 33-year-old man, was shot in the lower back and is now paralysed from the waist down.

Speaking after McDonal was sentenced to 15 years in prison, West Midlands Police DCI Andy Bebbington, who led the investigation, praised the excellent work of his officers in the case.

He also thanked the local community in Lozells for helping them bring the case to court.

He said the case highlighted exactly what could be achieved against gun-related crime in the inner-city area with the help of the local people.
