A man has been arrested on suspicion of trying to rape a woman in woodland in Oxford.
The woman, in her 20s, told police she was grabbed from behind by a man who held a knife to her throat and indecently assaulted her, before her friends chased him off.
The attack took place in Iffley Fields, an area of woodland running off Jackdaw Lane, Cowley, on Monday night.
A 45-year old man, of no fixed abode, was arrested in connection with the assault on Thursday shortly before 1830 BST.
Thames Valley Police continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Constable Clare Tudway, of Oxford CID, said: "There are numerous dog-walkers in that area, and it is just possible that someone saw the offender running away, or heard the woman scream.
"As it is, the woman has been left injured, shaken and terrified."
The man has been bailed until 7 October pending further inquiries.
