Row over new homes plan
County Council bosses have backed revised plans for new homes to be built in an area of north Cumbria.

The proposals have been opposed by residents in the village of Castle Carrock, near Brampton.

Montgomery Housing wants to build new properties on land known as Sid's Field.

It is the second time the company has applied for permission to build in the village, which is in the North Pennines area of outstanding natural beauty.

Earlier this year, an application to build 16 houses was refused, after people living in the village objected.

There was also concern over the scale and character of the development, which it was feared would be out of keeping with the area.

But Cumbria County Council has now decided that these issues have been addressed in the latest application for nine houses on the same site.

A final decision will be made by councillors soon.
